Pastor's Message

This week's message is from our Missions Director, Beth Daugherty . . .

Peace be with you!

As Christmas approaches I begin to look at the past year of my life. So many things have changed. I have gone from manager at Starbucks to the Missions Director at Prince of Peace. Graduating seminary I prayed to go overseas and be a missionary with Shaun, my husband. God has bigger plans right now and Prince of Peace is where He has called us to serve. His ways are so much better than our own.

Rosaline Hyslop, Kathy Stroman and I just returned from Lima, Peru. We were able to see the orphans enjoy Christmas gifts and a wonderful roasted chicken dinner thanks to our congregation. Allison Schlack and I will be traveling to Kenya January 7-23 to plan for this summer's trip.

One flight after another I see the world and its hurts. Kenya and Peru are not the only places aching for peace this season. Every 1st Saturday we have been able to care for the hurting here in Carrollton and Plano. It is amazing what one free cup of coffee or a bottle of water does to someone. They pause. In the middle of the hustle and bustle they think, "what was that?" and "why did they do that?"

Let us pause this season and remember who gave us the greatest gift of all - Jesus Christ. Let us look for those people in our lives who are needing peace this Christmas. A hurting person may be in the next cubicle, next door or even in the same house. May we love deeply and remember what true sacrifice was given when God stepped down to this earth and became man.

Beth Daugherty

And this is God’s command: To believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us.  1 John 3:23

Do you feel called to share Jesus’ love with the world in a more tangible way?

Scripture says that when all else is stripped away, all that remains is faith, hope, and love, and of these three, love is the greatest.  We invite you to join us as our love for others goes beyond something we FEEL to something we DO.  Below are a few of the opportunities available for you to express your love to those in need this holiday season.  We thank you in advance for how your actions will testify to your faith in God, your hope in Christ and your love for our Lord and one another.

Sponsor a Bea’s Kid

Bring a Toy for a Child to help support Metrocrest

And please continue to stock our food pantry as you
have generously been doing!  THANK YOU!

We ought always to thank God for you, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.  2 Thessalonians 1:3
