| Pastor's Message |

This week's message is from Shaun Daugherty, Director of NeXtGen Ministries:
The greatest bond of commonality that any people can share is faith in Jesus Christ. Think about it for a moment. Commonality brings people together. Whether it’s simply frequenting the same Starbucks or working together in the same office or living in the same neighborhood, bonds of commonality connect us. From hobbies, to living situations, to recreational habits, and of course biology, the number of ways we connect is staggering. But THERE CAN BE NO GREATER BOND than a common faith in Jesus Christ. As Paul writes in Ephesians 2:19-22 (NIV), “You are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”
I wonder if we see ourselves and our community of faith this way. I wonder if we understand and affirm that there is NO ONE that we have more in common with than another believer in Jesus Christ. This bond transcends location, age, social status, biology and ALL else. And it creates some of the most interesting and fulfilling relationships on the face of the earth. The bond of faith has joined us at Prince of Peace to people worlds away in Kenya and Peru as well as to people who are just miles away in the suburbs of Dallas. It has joined together single and married young adults to families with children and it has joined children and youth to senior adults. By faith God has brought us all together into ONE family and ONE household, built upon the firm foundation of Jesus Christ. And He has given us ONE mission and ONE message to take into all the world.
In the coming year of ministry life at Prince of Peace, my prayers for NeXtGen Ministries and for all of Prince of Peace are these: That we would understand our identity in Christ as fellow members of God’s family, that we would grow in our bonds of faith with one another no matter what our differences, and that we would embrace the mission of Jesus Christ in every aspect of our lives as we carry the message of the Gospel into our community and beyond.

Food Pantry

Galatians 5:22-23a But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
As the calendar page turned to 2008 we celebrated a New Year but we challenge you to make your celebration a daily event; for scripture says that the Lord makes all things new. We are offered newness moment by moment: new ways to grow and learn; new ways to be humble and serve; new ways to exhibit the fruits of the Spirit as we reach out to others. Apart from Christ we can do nothing but in Him we can bear much fruit. May you, in this New Year, having new opportunities, living in this new day, be fruitful for the Lord as you reach out to others and share His love in a tangible way.
